Rules:
MYHL games are governed by USA Hockey rules with the following exceptions:
- The amount of time allotted for a game
during the regular season are three 15 minute stop-time periods for
Peewee's and three 16 minute stop-time periods for Bantam's. The
first three to five minutes are used for warm-ups. Breaks between
periods should only be used to switch ends of the ice, and not used for
team meetings. Line changes must be made quickly in order to
complete the game on time.
- There is one 30 second timeout per team
during regular season games.
- There is no overtime during regular
season games.
- Regular season tie games will be broken
via a "Full Team Shootout" if rink time permits. A
"Full Team Shootout" involves ALL skaters from both teams and
it is expected that if a team has 2 goalies, that both will participate
evenly. If one team has more players that the other, then, the
team with more players will designate which players take 2 penalty shots
from the team with less players. The winning team is awarded one
extra point for a shootout win.
Note: If a player is serving a penalty at the end of regulation, he/she
is NOT permitted to participate in the shootout and their turn in the
shootout will be listed as a miss.
- If less than 30 minutes remain in the
allotted time for the game at the beginning of the third period, then
the third period will be one-half of the remaining time left in the
slot.
- If a team is aware that their goalie
will be unable to play in a scheduled game, that team may use a
substitute goalie from another MYHL team or must select a proper age
goalie from their organizations house league. In the event a
goalie can still not be found, then a "Travel" goalie from a
lower age division may be used, but this should only be in an
emergency. This may only occur if a team does not have any
rostered goalies available to play.
- If a team arrives for a game without
prior knowledge that their time goalie would be unavailable to play, the
team can either play the game with a sixth skater on the ice who does
not have goalie privileges (USA Hockey rule 203f).
- All players on the bench should receive
equal ice time during the game. This is a guideline in keeping
with the MYHL philosophy of participation and skill development for all
players.
- Minor penalties are 2 minutes.
Major penalties are 5 minutes. When a player is assessed 3 minor
penalties, for any additional minor penalty accessed that player, a 5
minute major penalty will be assessed in addition. NO EXCEPTIONS.
[x] - Delay of game penalties do not count towards an individuals total
[x] - Too many men on the ice penalties do not count towards an
individuals total
[x] - Bench minors do not count towards an individuals total
- Regular season point totals will be
earned in the following manor:
Regulation win: 3 points
Shootout win: 2 points
Shootout loss: 1 point
Regulation loss: 0 points
